Greenshowroom and the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin: Hello Kraftwerk! Green fashion trade fairs entice visitors to central Berlin

Greenshowroom and the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin present themselves in a new location situated at the very heart of Berlin Fashion Week. Visitors can look forward to a number of premières.

All ready for next winter: from 16 to 18 January, around 170 progressive labels will be presenting sustainable fashion and accessories for the winter season 2018/19 at the Kraftwerk Berlin for the first time. The Kraftwerk will also host the Premium Group's #Fashiontech and the new Messe Frankfurt conference FashionSustain.

‘With the contrasting backdrop of the Kraftwerk and its unbeatable location in the heart of Berlin, the future-oriented collections of the participating labels can be presented in the best possible light. We’re also bringing together trade fairs, fashion shows and conferences at the Kraftwerk as well as the themes of fashion, sustainability and high-tech in an innovative way’, says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles and Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt.

All kinds of innovations
Trade visitors can look forward to a number of trade fair premières: Lanius will present its licensed collection in collaboration with Germany´s largest women´s magazine Brigitte under the motto “Fair Feminine Fashion”. Vaude guarantees a glimpse of its new Green Shape Core collection comprising biodegradable materials such as Kapok plant down, castor oil and cow's milk. Rubber boots made from corn are the new theme at nat-2 and Green Window presents the first capsule collection of sustainable and German-made polo shirts in cooperation with Trigema.

Trends autumn/winter 2018/19: Contemporary naturalness

The motto for the coming autumn/winter season is “back to nature”. As a reaction to the daily overload of stimuli, excessive materialism and ever-present abundance, the longing for simple things, for the primal and for a connection to nature is becoming ever stronger. Contemporary fashion interprets this need using natural materials such as alpaca wool and olive leather. The collections for the autumn and winter of 2018/19 strike a balance between modernity and tradition, the space age and natural idylls, sometimes combined with sophisticated cuts and patterns, sometimes using innovative high-tech materials.

Many labels take part the first time

On the ground floor, 40 labels will be presenting contemporary and high fashion at Greenshowroom. In addition to well-known names such as Jan ‘n June, Les Racines du Ciel and Ackermann Taschenmanufaktur, there are also numerous newcomers such as Graciela Huam, Kromagnon, Nadja, Re:Code and Stinne Gorell. Trade visitors will also find hip street and casual wear from the around 130 exhibitors of the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin on the ground floor as well as on the mezzanine floor. In addition to industry giants such as bleed, Dedicated, Frieda Sand, Good Society, Hempage, Langer Chen and Skunkfunk, labels such as Jeckybeng, Kuyichi, Me and May and Sitka Semsch will be featured for the first time. In the Knowledge Lounge, initiatives and certifiers such as Circular.Fashion, Fairtrade Deutschland, GOTS and PETA will also provide information on questions relating to sustainability in fashion.

Fringe programme on the future of fashion
The spacious upper floor of the Kraftwerk and the control centre form the backdrop for the conference and event programme. On Tuesday 16 January, the Premium Group invites you to attend the #Fashiontech conference. Visitors can also look forward to the première of FashionSustain – Messe Frankfurt's new conference with the motto “Run for Circularity” – on Wednesday 17 January in the same place. A two-day showcase for smart fashion and a Thinkaton link the two events. The lectures and discussions at the green fashion fairs on Wednesday will also provide an insight into various aspects of sustainability in fashion.

Evening event and fashion show
On the Wednesday of the trade fair, Greenshowroom and the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin will be hosting the “Nightshift” for the first time. The highlight of the exclusive evening event is the combined catwalk show of Salonshow and Ethical Fashion on Stage presenting selected looks from the collections of the exhibitors. In its first collaboration with stylist and co-founder of the Fashion Council Germany Claudia Hofmann, the joint fashion show will put the spotlight on sustainable looks. Greenshowroom and the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin will remain open for longer, providing trade visitors with more time to inform themselves and place orders.

Getting here via shuttle service
The Kraftwerk Berlin is on the official shuttle service route for Berlin Fashion Week. This serves several locations, including the Premium, Seek, Bright and Fashion Week event locations as well as Tegel airport. In addition, the shuttle for Greenshowroom and the Ethical Fashion Show runs between the Kraftwerk and the Station-Berlin as well as between the Kraftwerk and the arena. In the morning of the first day of the trade fairs, the shuttle will also go from Tegel airport.
